Integrate EP Certification Into Your Environmental Program
The Standard of Excellence in Environmental Employment
Encourage your students to become one of hundreds of people who are obtaining nationwide recognition of their environmental skills and expertise through certifications offered by ECO Canada.
The post-secondary institutions featured have all partnered with ECO Canada to integrate certification into their programs, offering students in relevant areas of study the opportunity to graduate with their certification. As a result, students are able to align the educational skills they have acquired with industry benchmarks, which offers them a competitive edge and an easier transition into an environmental career.
EPt Integration Partners
The Environmental Professional-in-Training (EPt) option, administered by ECO Canada and overseen by the Canadian Environmental Certification Approvals Board (CECAB), is the only certification program of its kind in Canada to provide professionals in the early stages of their career with formal recognition of their unique environmental competencies. EPt is based on the National Occupational Standards for Environmental Employment, which define the competencies required to work in the different areas of the environmental workforce.
These standards are defined and renewed every five years by industry and academia across the country. This allows students to align their educational skills with industry benchmarks, providing an easier transition into an environmental career. EPt is an ideal school-to-work bridging tool for upcoming college and university graduates with less than five years of environmental work experience. The application process can take place in a student’s last year of study. Once EPts have gained a minimum of five years of relevant environmental work experience, they may upgrade to become a fully certified Environmental Professional (EP).
