Building Career Success and Making an Impact Starts with You

The Environmental Professional-in-Training designation is most beneficial if you are brand new to the industry or don’t quite have the work experience required to qualify as an EP.
EPts work towards their unique environmental expertise with the tools and inside track on resources that will help them get to the next level.

We award EPt® Certification to entry-level or junior environmental professionals who meet the following requirements:


Must have a recognized diploma or degree

Environmental Specialization Knowledge

Passes assessment according to the National Occupational Standards (NOS)

Requirements for EPt


Meet the standard of environmental skills and knowledge according to National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Environmental Employment in Canada

Professional Development

Remain current by meeting annual professional development requirements


Demonstrate professional integrity as they are accountable to the EP Code of Ethics


Meet the minimum standard for your chosen specialization(s) as set out by the NOS

Environmental Specializations

All applicants applying for an EPt® designation may select up to two, as set out by the NOS. Each specialization is related to four core areas:
