John Lewis - MCIP, M.E.Des. - President, Intelligent Futures
John is the President and Founder of Intelligent Futures. John’s approach brings together elements of community engagement, strategic planning, effective communication and capacity-building to make sustainability meaningful for the communities and organizations he works with.
For his innovative approaches to sustainability, John was identified as one of Calgary’s "Top 40 Under 40" in 2010 and was selected to an international group of emerging leaders invited to the "Global Environmental Governance Forum" in Glion, Switzerland in 2009.
John is a Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, an instructor at the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta, is a Board member for LEAD (Leadership in Environment and Development) Canada and is a member of LEAD International’s training team.

Luncheon Keynote Speaker
Dr. Steve E. Hrudey - FRSC, FSRA, IWAF, PhD, DSc(Eng), PEng Professor Emeritus Analytical & Environmental Toxicology - Division Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - University of Alberta
Dr. Hrudey is currently Professor Emeritus in the Environmental and Analytical Toxicology Division of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta. His areas of expertise include drinking water safety, environmental contaminant exposure assessment, approaches for health risk assessment, risk management and risk communication.
He has served on several expert panels including the Research Advisory Panel to the Walkerton Inquiry. He is currently chairing an Expert Panel on environmental and public health impacts of Canada’s oil sands industry for the Royal Society of Canada and he is serving on an expert panel advising the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the drinking water supply for Washington, D.C.
He has authored or coauthored over 150 refereed journal articles, 5 books, 12 book chapters, 14 expert panel reports, and over 100 other publications in the environmental sciences. His 2004 book, Safe Drinking Water, co-authored with Elizabeth J. Hrudey, is a best seller with the International Water Association - IWA Publishing of London.
Dr. Hrudey was elected a Fellow of the International Water Association in 2010, a Fellow of the Society for Risk Analysis in 2007 and a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences, Royal Society of Canada in 2006.

Eleanor Mohammed - EP, RPP, MCIP - Planner II, Leduc County Planning and Development
Eleanor Mohammed is a Planner II at Leduc County, Alberta. She is also currently an MA candidate in Town and Country Planning through the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK, with an intended dissertation that will explore climate change adaptation and planning. Eleanor has an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto with a specialty in Environmental Management.
Eleanor is a certified Environmental Professional through ECO Canada and a Registered Professional Planner with the Alberta Professional Planners Institute. Eleanor views all planning projects through an environmental lens and firmly believes that climate change is not the end of the world, it’s just the end of the world as we know it.
