Certification Maintenance

As a Commitment to your Career, you Renew your EP Certification Annually

The environmental sector is rapidly changing – and professionals need to stay up to date with what’s happening. All certified members are required to complete Professional Development activities and submit their membership fees on an annual basis.

Professional Development

Professional Development is an important part of maintaining your certification because it ensures you continue to be competent in your profession. By participating in activities such as continuing education, industry events, volunteer activities, and thought leadership, members keep the membership expertise and competencies at the highest level.

The number of PD credits required annually for each membership level are:

  • EP: 10 credits
  • EPt: 5 credits
  • EP Auditors: 10 credits, plus required audit logs

For more information on the credit requirements, please review the Member Guide available in your certification account or contact ep@eco.ca

Membership Fees

  • All members are required to pay the renewal fee by April 1 each year
    • EP, EP(CEA) and EP(EMSLA) fee: $200
    • EPt fee: $100
    • Upgrade fee: $150*
  • Payment can be made via member account login either on the ECO or CECAB login page
  • Reminder emails will be sent to members starting in February and March

*If you qualify to upgrade from an EPt to EP, we recommend beginning this process in advance of the renewal period in order to avoid incurring additional fees

Outstanding Fees Policy

If payment is not received within 30 days of its due date, a late penalty of $100.00 for EP members and EP Auditors / $50.00 for EPt members will apply.  The member will no longer be in good standing and temporarily removed from the member Roster until payment is received. This status will be lifted and the member’s name will be placed back on the Roster once payment is received.

If it has been more than 90 days since ECO Canada has received any communication from a member, and said member still has outstanding fees, their account will be permanently removed and they will have to either apply and pay to reinstate their designation, or apply as a new applicant if the lapsed period exceeds 3 years.

Please contact us at EP@eco.ca or 1-800-890-1924 if you have any questions or concerns about this policy.
