More than 40 organizations dedicated to lending a helping hand to job seekers come together in the Career Services Pavilion at The National Job Fair &Training Expo.
ECO Canada, for example, wants job seekers to know about career planning tools that can help secure employment in the environment industry, CEO Grant Trump reports. He encourages anybody interested in an environmental career to visit the booth.
"The not-for-profit organization supports Canada's environment industry by communicating with industry stakeholders, conducting research and creating the necessary resources required to address human resource needs in order to ensure the success of this dynamic sector," Grant says.
Longtime exhibitor LinkUp Employment Services for Persons with Disabilities hopes to connect with job seekers with disabilities, employers seeking to diversify their workforces and fellow service providers, CEO Bob Santos says.
The charitable, not-for-profit employment services agency offers pre-employment help to job seekers, including monthly workshops on such topics as time management and coping with change. It also offers accommodation advice and assistance, job development and job matching.
At monthly "meet the employer events," local employers can present current job opportunities and explain the best ways those with a disability can apply. LinkUp will assist employers in identifying essential job duties for a position, pre-screen candidates to refer for job openings, offer accessibility and accommodation advice, and provide extensive post-hiring support, Santos says.
