Local voted number one in national photo contest
March 8, 2010 – Kelowna resident Tricia Klien was recently awarded first place in a nationwide photo contest held by ECO Canada.
“It was the first time I was ever brave enough to submit something to a photo contest,” says Klein, who found out about the contest
through ECO Canada’s fan page on Facebook.
Close to 500 Canadians put their photography skills to the test for a chance at winning one of four prizes valued up to 400 dollars. Photographers of all walks of life were asked to capture Canada’s landscape and the people working in our environment.
In each category, 6 finalists were selected and voted on by the public. Klein’s picture was chosen as Canada’s favorite in the ab
stract nature category.
Klein feels that it was her love for the outdoors that inspired her. “I love being able to explore the wilderness and create opportunities for others to be active in the outdoors. My wish is to educate the younger generation on the importance of parks and recreation areas to help in the preservation process.”
