Edmonton Employers Invited to Discover Top Talent at the Environmental Immigrant Bridging Career Night

January 24th, 2011
– ECO Canada in partnership with the Bredin Institute is excited to announce the first Environmental Immigrant Bridging (EIB) Career Night on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011. ECO Canada invites all employers to attend this upcoming event and network with program participants who possess the skills and knowledge required to meet their recruitment needs. EIB Program graduates are highly qualified individuals who not only present employers with a successful hiring solution and contribute to a diversified workforce, but also offer creativity, a fresh outlook, and a global perspective.

The Environmental Immigrant Bridging (EIB) Program is ECO Canada’s newest initiative aimed at integrating internationally trained professionals into the Canadian workforce. Developed with over 50 environmental employers, the EIB Program aims to address common recruitment and retention barriers to provide employers with the right candidates. Topics covered in training include professional communication, leadership skills, critical thinking, and Canadian professional culture. All program participants already possess a post-secondary education, at least five years relevant environmental experience, and meet a high level of English Language competency.

Following the successful completion of the EIB Program, participants will partake in a three month paid work placement with an organization that aligns with the individuals’ skill set. Graduates are well prepared to start a full time, part time, or contract position depending on employer requirements. The three month period provides employers with the opportunity to recruit for full-time positions. More information regarding the program can be found at www.eco.ca/bridging.

To register for the upcoming EIB Program career night, employers can contact Nichole Watson at nwatson@eco.ca or (403) 233-0748. The event is free and open to all employers.
