
Awards Process
The Application
Award applications can be submitted from November 1st to December 1st 2011. The application should be completed by a member of the organization’s executive team or the head of the HR department. After completing the short application form, employers will be sent a confirmation email.
The Survey
On December 2nd, 2011, ECO Canada will release the Employee Engagement Survey to the main contact of each participating company, who will then be responsible for distributing it to all of the employees in the company. The survey takes approximately 20 minutes per individual to complete and is conducted online at the staff member’s convenience. The survey asks a series of questions related to six key HR areas. The results along with the management essay help our committee determine the winners.
The Essay
All participating companies are required to submit a management essay showcasing the innovative or unique HR practices and policies that set them apart from other Environmental companies. The essay should be at least 500 words in length, and should describe clearly how the company’s HR strategies contribute to increasing employee engagement and to creating an exceptional workplace.
The Selection
Using the employee engagement survey results and the management essays, ECO’s HR Selection Committee, made up of external HR consultants, will choose the top 5 Environmental Employers of 2012.
The Awards & Their Presentation
The top 5 Environmental Employers will be announced in mid-February. The winning organizations will be showcased around the Globe Conference in Vancouver in mid-March with possible media opportunities made available.
