Local Environmental Coordinator
A Local Environmental Coordinator assists in protecting and improving the quality of the environment in his or her community. This 12-week program will teach you the basic skills of environmental management, including communication and life skills, developing and implementing environmental plans, integrating Traditional Knowledge within data collection and analysis, and much more.
Graduates will be trained in the fundamentals of environmental management, including:

Environmental Site Assessment Assistant
An Environmental Site Assessment Assistant is someone who participates in the environmental assessment of a potentially contaminated site. This seven-week training will consist of planning and conducting site visits, gathering local and traditional knowledge, collecting and evaluating data, as well as learning about basic approaches to contaminated site management.
Graduates will be trained in environmental site assessment Phase I, II, and III and are qualified to assist with:

Obtaining local knowledge about the site & surroundings

Sampling and testing activities
-
Interpreting and evaluating field data

Project planning & preparing reports

Contaminated Sites Remediation Coordinator
This training program will teach the skills needed to assist in the confirmatory sampling of a remediated site, as well as coordinate the long-term monitoring of site health and recovery. Moreover, it will provide the knowledge and develop skills needed to coordinate the implementation of a remedial action plan. Emphasis is on worksite health and safety and on maximizing the involvement of a local workforce and contractors. Students will also have the opportunity to study non-technical skills that are needed to assist governments and/or consultants in the development of a remedial action plan.
Graduates are trained in the basics of contaminated sites remediation and can assist with:

Land Use Planning Coordinator -v2.jpg)
This program provides participants with a basic understanding of land use planning, as well as introduces them to key land use planning concepts and a general history of Aboriginal land use planning. Main objectives include teaching students the process of setting up a land use plan, helping students learn how to use these skills to complete a land use plan and understanding that a land use plan must have an implementation plan to be successful. Students will also gain a basic understanding of the regulatory environment in Aboriginal land use planning, which varies from community to community.
Graduates are trained in the basics of land use planning and can assist with:

Solid Waste Coordinator
A Solid Waste Coordinator is responsible for the management of household and commercial waste in his or her community. This six-week training program will focus on developing the skills necessary to assist with implementing solid waste management plans and policies. Students will learn about waste collection, disposal, and diversion processes, as well as, assisting with community education and waste reduction promotion.

Environmental Monitoring
This program provides a basic understanding of the theory and techniques of environmental monitoring. Environmental Monitors are individuals who observe the environment and the impacts of human and industrial activities. They communicate this information to various stakeholders and help to mitigate negative environmental impacts. Program graduates are prepared to work on various projects, such as Oil & Gas Operations, Mining, Pipeline Construction, Seismic, Power Generation, Fishing, Forest-harvesting, and much more!

Certificate of Applied Environmental Techniques
The Certificate of Applied Environmental Techniques provides students with an introduction to the Environmental Sector emphasizing 3 key areas including environmental monitoring, environmental site assessments and contaminated sites remediation. Students will gain valuable experience through both in class and field activities learning about sampling, testing, interpretation and evaluation of data, preparing reports, regulatory implications as well as remedial action plans. All modules incorporate facets of Aboriginal Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Western Scientific concepts offering students various perspectives and ways to interpret course content.
