Meteorologists welcome certification as a means of gaining new opportunities and reducing risk.
As a meteorologist, one of your most important responsibilities is to convey to the public and to potential clients the value your weather services have in their long and short term planning. Professional certification is a mark that demonstrates trust in your meteorological product.
ECO Canada has partnered with the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS) and Environment Canada to deliver a world class certification program that not only recognizes meteorologists on their educational qualifications, but also their experience, competency and professional ethics. The P. Met title demonstrates commitment to accountability, career development and continued learning.
Studies have shown that Canadian meteorologists view certification as a means of increasing employment/business opportunities, improving compensation and professional standing, and gaining credibility with clients (ECO Canada: LMI 2007). In addition to many great members’ benefits, all P. Mets are pre-qualified for major discounts on General Liability and Errors & Omissions Insurance. Boost your credibility and reduce your risk - get certified today.
P. Met is available to professionals with an undergraduate degree in meteorology or a related science who have five (5) or more years of relevant meteorological work experience and who meet or exceed the National Occupational Standards for Meteorology.
ECO Canada is a certifying body for environmental professionals and is ISO 17024 accredited for some specializations. Click here to learn more.
