About the Project
Environmental or “green” jobs are becoming an important topic in schools across Canada. As educators and students are trying to learn about the changing economy and up-and-coming careers, ECO Canada is working to provide kindergarten to grade 12 educators and students with environmental career information.
The “Environmental Career Awareness Strategy” is working to support and collaborate with current environmental education and career pathing initiatives already underway in Canada. We are developing complimentary learning tools, skill development, and post secondary support for students, as well as professional development and educational resources for educators. Our vision is for all Canadian students, kindergarten to grade 12, to be aware of environmental careers and to participate in experiential learning opportunities to become leaders in the environmental sector.
Project Details
ECO Canada has embarked on a unique, provincial-federal government partnership creating awareness for youth and educators around environmental careers. The aim of the project is to develop a national environmental education and career pathing strategy to increase the number of students entering into post-secondary programs and ultimately the environmental workforce. The project seeks to develop a dynamic community of inspirational discussion and career resource-sharing so educators, students, and their parents can learn about and explore environmental careers.
The ECO Canada Career Awareness Strategy will support and complement current environmental education initiatives already underway in Canada. Our goal is to work strategically and collaboratively to create innovative tools, programs, and campaigns to expose and assist students in exploring career options in the environmental sector.
