How many students can be on one team?
To have an eligible team, you must have more than one student. There is no limit to the number of students that can participate in creating a video for your school. Remember, you must have one staff member as your team sponsor.
What is the role of the Team Sponsor?
The team sponsor must be a full time staff member at your high school who will approve the video for submission, ensuring that the video meets all the criteria and guidelines outlined in the ECO Action! entry form.
The team sponsor will also be responsible for demonstrating consent from school administration to participate in the video contest, and for submitting all the appropriate consent forms to ECO Canada.
Who will our team be competing with?
You will be competing with high school teams across Canada. Four prizes of $2,000 each will be awarded.
How many videos can be entered into the contest from each school?
Only one video per school may be entered into the contest. To ensure that only one video is submitted, please keep your school administration up-to-date on your progress in creating your video. If more than one video is submitted to ECO Canada from one school, the first video submitted will be selected to compete.
If my video is submitted after March 31st, 2011 will it still be considered?
Your video must be submitted by midnight (12:00am MST) on March 31st, 2011 to be considered in the competition.
If my video is a few seconds longer than five minutes, will it still be eligible to win?
Your video needs to be less than five minutes and longer than three minutes to qualify for the contest.
What does ECO Canada do with my video after it is submitted?
Once your video has been submitted it becomes the property of ECO Canada. All video entries will be posted on the ECO Canada YouTube page for general viewing by the public.
If your video is one of the four winning entries, it will also be uploaded onto the ECO Canada website for the general public to access. Your school and team may be profiled in ECO Canada’s promotional materials, press releases, and other media outlets.
What will my team receive if we win?
Each of the four winning schools will receive a cheque for $2,000 to go towards implementing an eco-friendly initiative.
How will the winning team be notified?
The people identified on the entry form as the team representative and team sponsor will be contacted. It is important that all contact information is accurate.
