Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Social Responsibility, the Advisor, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and Sustainability will bring additional environmental, sustainability and health and safety expertise to the team while working on specific mandates related to environmental management, EHS compliance and EHS reporting, as well as supporting the establishment of Gildan CSR and Environmental strategic plan, goals and objectives.

  • Assist in the review, standardization and implementation of the Global environmental, health and safety management system (EHSMS) policies and procedures across the organization; in conjuction with the operational environmental team when required;
  • Provide guidance and support to all North American manufacturing operations on EHS legal matters;
  • Manage the corporate EHS auditing program in Nort America by Planning and executing the annual corporate audits;
  • Provide support and serve as environmental due diligence advisor during mergers or acquistions and take the lead on subsequent integration process;
  • Assist in identifying innovative sustainability projects that will help Gildan lower its environmental impact and achieve its environmental reduction goals;
  • Prepare all external and internal reports including the EHS corresponding portion of the company's sustainability report; such as Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), customers' specific questionnaires and scorecards, Dow Jones sustainability (DJSI) Index, etc;
  • Lead the company's EHS data collection as well as the annual data validation and third party annual assurance process; modify data collection software as needed to adapt to the company's changing environment
  • University Degree in environmental science, environmental and health and safety (EHS) engineering or sustainable development;
  • Knowledge of greenhouse gas (GHS) emissions calculation according to the GHG protocol;
  • Experience in EHS complaince audits and EHS management systems (ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001);
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability trends and best practices;
  • Very strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
