Job Description

Kerr Wood Leidal Associates Ltd. (KWL) is currently seeking an Intermediate Civil Engineering Technologist to work in its Burnaby office. The position provides the opportunity to work with a growing and dynamic team of leading water resources engineers, geoscientists and other professionals working on cutting edge and innovative projects.

Typical work would include: 
• field work, including stream assessments, works inspections, construction inspection, and flood response;
• survey using basic field techniques, RTK and total station;
• assembling, reducing, reviewing and analyzing data such as topographic survey, hydrometric, weather and climate, bathymetric and GIS based data;
• detailed design calculations, technical report writing, production of specifications;
• production of design drawings and GIS figures;
• quality and quantity control construction inspections;
• construction contract administration; and
• client and project management.

You enjoy working hands-on and excel at problem solving efficiently.  You are rational, organized, and take pride in a job well done.  You enjoy autonomy, innovation and are a proven self-starter.  You enjoy travelling around the province and working in urban areas to the remote wilderness.  You have a willingness to learn and develop the skills in the field and enhance them further through collaboration in a design office.  You excel in interpersonal and written communications skills and can work with team members in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Your qualifications, interests, and experience include a combination of the following:
• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology;
• 3-5 years relevant experience, preferably within a consulting environment.
• Excellent working ability with AutoCad, Civil 3D, MS Word and Excel, statistical packages, and GIS: and
• A valid BC driver’s license is required.
