Rangeland Conservation Service Ltd. (Rangeland) is an environmental and geotechnical engineering firm based in Airdrie, Alberta. Our staff of professionals includes expertise in aquatic biology, botany, wetland science, wildlife biology, range science, habitat and ecosystem restoration, geotechnical engineering, regulatory management and environmental inspection. 


Rangeland has an opening for a Senior Environmental Planner (Level I Manager). The candidate will have an integral role in growing Rangeland’s business, specializing in working with new and existing clients on environmental planning of oil and gas projects.


Responsibilities:


• Participate in high-level management, business planning strategies;
• Provide active participation in Rangeland’s strong safety programs;
• Client business development and creating or inputting into company marketing strategies;
• Lead client and team meetings;
• Manage projects from conception to end of construction include administrative duties;
• Prepare environmental scopes of work and proposals considering the regulatory requirements (compliance of federal, provincial and municipal regulations);
• Provide senior leadership during environmental planning, biophysical surveys, geotechnical evaluations, third-party surveys and management, and regulatory applications of projects;
• Provide guidance to environmental monitoring and inspection staff during construction activities;
• Provide leadership, training and mentorship to junior staff;
• Compiling, inputting and analysing biological data and conducting senior review of reports;
• Preparing construction recommendation reports, environmental protection plans and other environmental applications;
• Drafting environmental alignment sheets and producing other geomatics products; and
• Conducting fieldwork pursuant to the individual’s environmental discipline or background.

• Bachelor’s Degree in environmental sciences, biology, resource management or related program(s). A minor degree in business management or marketing is an asset;
• Must hold a professional designation as a P.Ag., B.Biol, or P.Eng. or other related designation;
• A minimum of 10 years of consulting experience in the oil and gas industry with an emphasis in Western Canada environmental planning;
• Proven past successful experience specific to environmental planning of oil and gas projects;
• Must demonstrate repeated project success through project management, organized planning, regulatory compliance, environmental research, project management, team leadership, client engagement and budget management;
• Bring successful history of client and regulatory relationships;
• Safety certifications: First Aid, eGSO/PST/CSTS, H2S Alive, TDG and WHMIS, ATV course; and
• Must have strong communication, interpersonal and professional skills.

This is a full time staff position that is generally 90% office based and 10% fieldwork.  The individual must be prepared to work outdoors under variable weather conditions. Overnight out-of-town travel, evening, weekend and shift work may occur. Some of the work associated with this position may be located in remote areas for extended periods of time and may require overtime, weekends and variable hours. This job can be physically demanding requiring a moderate level of physical ability as the worker must be able to conduct all field aspects of the job.
