ERM is a leading global provider of environmental, health, safety, risk, and social consulting services. We are currently seeking an outstanding professional to join our Saskatoon, SK as a Terrestrial Ecologist to support our Mining and Oil and Gas teams. 

As a member of the team, you will act as a terrestrial ecologist in Saskatchewan, with capacity to also conduct work in other provincial jurisdictions in Canada.  Work will include field site investigations, vegetation assessments, wetland delineation, both wetland and grassland ecological assessment, and mitigation planning for ERM projects in the mining and oil and gas sectors. The successful applicant will have some exposure to environmental effects analysis, and offset/compensation planning as it relates to implementation of federal and provincial wetlands policies. More broadly, the applicant must show an interest in applying knowledge and skills to helping our clients solve complex challenges in these sectors.
This position has tremendous potential for career growth with the successful candidate having opportunities to directly interact with clients and regulators, and participate in business development. The successful candidate will be a member of a large multidisciplinary impact assessment team in Canada and will become a member of an extensive team of global environmental and social experts.

• Develop and lead terrestrial ecology field programs in Saskatchewan, and across Canada.
• Support preparation of terrestrial ecosystem and wetland assessments and management plans for EAs/EISs.
• Perform project delivery activities such as report writing, data collection and survey field work, data and literature review.
• Support preparation of proposals, including development of scopes and cost estimates, and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads.
• Work with multiple projects within client’s scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
• Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees worldwide.

• BS degree in Sciences, Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of consulting experience.
• Understanding of mining and/or oil-related environmental effects.
• Prior experience in environmental consulting or government and mining or oil and gas sectors are desirable.
• Expertise with Federal, Provincial and Territorial regulations and guidelines.
• Environmental Assessment experience.
• Wetland and upland plant identification, including grass species.
• Invasive plant identification.
• Weed management experience with knowledge of common herbicides and application techniques.
• Ability to acquire pesticide/herbicide applicators licenses is desirable.
• Experience conducting Range Health Assessments.
• Wildlife identification skills.
• Registered as 'Wetland Evaluator' in Ontario.
• Ability to follow directions and take initiative when required.
• Excellent communication, organization and time management skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and project management approaches.
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment.
