Environmental Analyst

Environmental Analyst Competition# 12-904
Located in Calgary and reporting to the Team Leader, Environment, the Environmental Analyst is responsible for providing environmental support to Alliance’s Canadian and United States Operations and business units. The Analyst acts as a liaison with various internal stakeholders and is primarily responsible for maintaining the framework and supporting documentation related to the environmental management system (EMS), ensuring corporate implementation of the EMS, and assisting in other areas of the environmental program as required. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Calgary with some field travel required.
Job Description:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•Maintain and implement the EMS framework through:
o Researching and implementing updates related to policy and regulatory changes.
o Identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement to the EMS.
o Aligning the various components of the environment program with the EMS.
o Aligning the EMS with departmental and corporate strategies.
o Liaising with members of the Environment Team for support in implementing appropriate changes.
o Fostering and implementing processes to support continuous improvement.
•Support the implementation of the environment program through:
o Administering controlled documents (environmental operating practices, plans, etc.)
o Providing administrative, analytical or project support to other members of the environment team as required.
o Assist with audits and inspections, documenting compliance and/or corrective actions.
•Report on key environment metrics to support both internal and external reporting requirements.
•Provide appropriate environment-focused training, tools and resources to all Alliance employee-partners through:
o Presentations
o Field training and support
o Reviewing and updating training modules as required
•Provide corporate awareness for Alliance’s Environment program, policies and procedures by:
o Environmental awareness events and activities.
o Speaking on environmental issues or regulations when required.
•Communicate with internal stakeholders regarding environmental matters.
•Other environment-related tasks or functions as required.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
•Undergraduate degree in Natural or Environmental Science.
•Previous experience working with environmental or similar management systems.
•A minimum of 3 year experience dealing with environmental affairs in the oil and gas or pipeline industry is preferred.
