International Post-Secondary Environmental Program Accreditation

Showcase Your Program As A Leader in Environmental Education

Gain Canadian recognition for education excellence in environmental practice through the International Accreditation Program. These post-secondary programs meet a national standard of excellence and align with the employability standards of a growing environmental workforce.

The International Accreditation Program reinforces the quality of environmental programs including academic support staff, educational facilities and curricula.

We work with post-secondary learning institutions across the world to add credibility to their environmental programs, which informs prospective students and industry members that the program meets a high-level standard of education and is aligned with the labour market and industry needs.

We aim to:

  • Promote a culture of continuous educational enhancement in the environmental workforce worldwide
  • Prepare students for their area of specialization and contribute to the development of responsible environmental professionals
  • Provide sufficient freedom to accommodate innovation in education while allowing adaption to different regional factors

The International Environmental Education Accreditation Commission (IEEAC) Standard

The commission regularly reviews the IEEAC Accreditation Standard, program framework and all accreditation processes, including requirements, evaluations and decisions, before granting an institution accreditation status. In addition to the general eligibility requirements, the IEEAC Accreditation Standard is used to assess and validate post-secondary programs through the Accreditation process in eight areas:

  • Environmental Program Development and Maintenance
  • Environmental Program Curriculum
  • Faculty Complement
  • Admissions
  • Student Services
  • Institution Facilities and Learning Resources
  • Program Financial Resources
  • Research and Scholarly Activity
