Job Description

Are you looking for a role where you will can support aspiring and junior professionals build their future environmental career? ECO Canada is looking for a performance-driven individual to join the Certification team immediately. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Certification, the successful candidate will have a passion for the environment and an interest in supporting post-secondary students and junior professionals in obtaining valuable career-building resources and certification.

As a key member of the Certification Team, the Applicant and Student Support Administrator will be responsible for overall applicant and member support to both EPt Practicing and EPt Student applicants. This also includes a large responsibility in liaising with ECO Canada Accredited Post-Secondary Programs and students to educate them about the career building resources ECO Canada provides and supporting their certification journey. While each member of ECO Canada has individual responsibilities, ECO takes a team-based approach. Everyone is encouraged to take ownership of his/her ideas and to see them through to completion, collaborating with other teams as required.

The overall goal of the position is to build and maintain a strong, multi-disciplinary, environmental profession in Canada by supporting and encouraging professionals and students in the environmental industry or in post-secondary study through the  membership and/or certification process.

Responsibilities Include:

  • The Administrator will provide excellent front line customer service and client outreach to ensure a seamless application process for EPt Student and EPt Practicing applicants and supporting key new member initiatives once certification has been obtained.
  • The Administrator will assist students enrolled in ECO Canada Accredited post-secondary programs with the proper career development path based on their academic year (Post-Secondary Student Support). This includes:
    • Reaching out to final year students to enroll in the EPt Student program, a membership status that provides access to valuable environmental career-building tools and resources and used as a pathway to obtain their Environmental Professional in-training (EPt) designation.
    • Supporting the Administrative Coordinator with communications, collateral and webinars to post-secondary students.
    • Approve student participation for the Student program
    • Be an ambassador to students at the post-secondary level
    • Provide support for data reporting and analytics
  • The Administrator will also play a key role in supporting the administration and execution of the EP Mentorship Program, both for students in ECO Canada Accredited post-secondary programs and those who have obtained their Practicing EPt designation. Specific duties include:
    • Answering applicant and member inquiries about the program
    • Assisting the team in the recruitment of mentors and proteges
    • Supporting the team in program awareness activities (webinars, collateral, etc.)
    • Providing support in matching a protégé with a mentor
    • Administrative duties related to mentorship pairing surveys and scheduled check-ins and providing support for data reporting and analytics on the programs success
  • The Administrator will also offer general administrative support to the team, where needed (collection of membership fees, assembling of member packages and set up of new member benefits and discounts, etc.).

You must be enrolled in a Co-Op based post-secondary program and have some work experience and
possess the following skills:

  • Great attitude and ability to maintain control while coordinating activities and balancing multiple priorities
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with MS Office
  • Strong organizational and time management skills combined with an acute attention to detail
  • Professional attitude with staff and clients
  • Comfortability in presenting both in-person and via online webinars
  • Administrative experience considered an asset
  • Bilingual in English and French considered an asset
