We are looking for an Ecology & EIA Lead to join our growing and dynamic team in one of our GTA offices (Whitby, Markham, Toronto or Mississauga). This position will involve providing both private and public clients with excellent technical guidance and navigation of the natural environment regulatory framework.
The successful candidate will:
•Champion relationships with internal clients, existing GHD clients along with the development of new clients
•Lead the development of proposals
•Lead the field work-plans, reporting as well as permit, authorization, and offsetting approvals (MECP, Conservation Authorities, SARA, etc.)
•Provide technical leadership on the natural environment components of Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Studies, Natural Heritage Studies and Cumulative Effects Assessments
•Work with peers, mentor intermediate and junior staff in all aspects of project work, while fostering an energetic and collaborative environment
•Coordinate technical resources and personnel
•Provide data compilation and interpretation, evaluation of environmentalregulations, preparation of environmental reports, and regulatory submissions
•Occasional travel to sites, primarily in Ontario
•Leadfield investigations (infrequent, if/as required)
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
•Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science in either: Ecology, Biology or Natural Resource Management
•Minimum of 10 years of consulting experience or a minimum of 5 years in a senior environmental role in public or private industry
•Ideal candidate will have experience in the field and in the application ofnatural environment consulting provincial or federal Environmental Assessment and Impact Assessments in at least one of these fields:transportation, linear infrastructure, land development or mining
•Proven project and client management skills
•Record of successful business development
•Experience conducting field work, and willingness to travel to undertake field workas required (field demands can include working long hours, working ininclement weather conditions, and lifting up to 50 lbs)
•Experience leading multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a demanding consulting environment
•Exhibit flexibility with the types of project and responsibilities within them
•Post-graduate degree and/or PMP designations will be considered and asset
•Experience working with Indigenous communities an asset
•Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, excellent English writing and verbal communication is required to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences including clients, agencies, subcontractors, fieldstaff, clients, colleagues, etc.
•Valid driver's license along with a clean driver's abstract is required
