Job Description

ERM is seeking a motivated Environmental Consultant in Kitimat or Terrace, BC. The successful candidate will provide business network development, project management, and technical expertise, to support our LNG sector focus. The selected individual will work from home with the intention of starting a small office in the future.


  • This is a dynamic position with growth opportunities.
  • This position will supports ERM’s growth in northwestern BC. Duties will include:
  • Facilitating and completing local project work
  • Identifying opportunities with Oil & Gas Clients
  • Identifying and fostering business network and partnership opportunities in the region
  • Field and office equipment management
  • Multi-project and regional logistical support
  • Safety leadership, ensuring implementation of ERM’s safety management systems, and participation in ERM Canada’s Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Coaching and mentoring junior staff
  • Provide technical expertise on a wide range of capital projects and studies, including federal and provincial environmental assessments (EAs) and environmental impact statements (EISs), regulatory permitting, compliance programs and related activities.
  • Perform project delivery activities such as conducting field surveys, collecting and organizing field survey data, data and literature review, report writing, and development of strategies and recommendations for clients.
  • Plan and steward the implementation of environmental field studies for a broad variety of disciplines.
  • Develop plans, permits, and procedures for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, storm water, and wastewater.
  • Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance, environmental management system, and due diligence transaction projects.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope specific assignments.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships that generate repeat business.
  • Communicate with clients, ERM employees, subcontractors, and vendors.



  • Proven record to developing opportunities and client relationships, with particular focus in Oil & Gas and LNG
  • Existing relationships with regulators and First Nations in Northeastern BC, and specifically the Kitimat/Terrace area.
  • 5 to 7 years of environmental function experience in areas including field studies, environmental assessment, regulatory permitting, compliance management; and management systems.
  • High degree of technical competence and broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices, with a solid grasp of the key impact assessment and management issues within the mining sector.
  • Strong MS Office computer skills; advanced understanding of PowerPoint, Excel, and Project desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organization/analytical skills; experience writing comprehensive technical reports and standards.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling as needed.
