ERM is seeking a motivated Environmental Consultant in Toronto, ON to support our growing domestic market, specifically in Eastern Canada. The successful candidate will assist Project Managers on a variety of assignments to support our mining and oil & gas sector focus.   • Provide technical expertise on a wide range of capital projects and studies, including federal and provincial environmental assessments (EAs) and environmental impact statements (EIS), regulatory permitting, compliance programs and related activities.
  • Perform project delivery activities such as conducting field surveys, collecting and organizing field survey data, data and literature review, report writing, and development of strategies and recommendations for clients.
  • Plan and steward the implementation of environmental baseline field studies for a broad variety of disciplines.
  • Develop plans, permits, and procedures for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, storm water, and wastewater.
  • Maintain records of compliance with permit conditions.
  • Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance, environmental management system, and due diligence transaction projects.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope specific assignments.
  • Assist with technical proposals and support business development with existing clients and identified leads.
  • Maintain client relationships that generate repeat business.
  • Communicate with clients, ERM employees, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Bachelor degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Planning or related discipline or a technical diploma with substantial work experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of environmental function experience in areas including field studies, environmental assessment, regulatory permitting, compliance management; and management systems.
  • High degree of technical competence and broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices, with a solid grasp of the key impact assessment and management issues within the mining sector.
  • Strong understanding of the federal and provincial (Ontario) legislation and policy frameworks relevant to this role.
  • Existing and positive relationships with the environmental community, including industry, government, and other consultants.
  • Experience in leading and/or supporting community engagement activities.
  • Ability to build, coach, and mentor collaborative teams
  • Strong MS Office computer skills; advanced understanding of PowerPoint, Excel, and Project desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organization/analytical skills; experience writing comprehensive technical reports and standards.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling as needed.
