Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for the right applicant to get their foot in the door and gain valuable work experience in the Environmental Services industry. ASE Services’ Lethbridge office is a small satellite office that is normally operated by one Environmental Safety Consultant who takes care of all site work and report work. We need a responsible and reliable student who can come in daily (Monday – Friday) from 2:00 – 4:30 pm to help ensure samples are couriered, reports are sent to clients, and that there is consistent communication with our head office in Calgary. The Assistant will be asked to take care of set tasks, but may be given more responsibilities and opportunities as time goes on. The successful applicant may also have the opportunity to transition into a full time, temporary summer position as an Environmental Safety Consultant next summer (2020).


• Manage bulk sample paperwork and courier shipments before the daily shipping deadline
• Consistently update the Lethbridge office job list and job board
• Prepare in-house samples for analysis
• Create basic reports for smaller projects
• Assist with larger reports for more complicated projects
• Communicate effectively and consistently with the Project Managers and Principals in Calgary and with the Environmental Safety Consultant in Lethbridge
• Work with the Safety Coordinator to ensure that ASE’s safety program milestones are met in the Lethbridge office
• Order stationary, coffee, and other supplies
• Other tasks as needed

• Currently working towards a College Diploma or University Degree in a science related discipline
• Strong report writing, review, and editing skills – excellent attention to detail and commitment to professionalism
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and problem solving skills
• Eagerness to learn and to take on new challenges
• Proven track record of ability to be accountable and responsible
• A reliable vehicle, valid drivers’ license, and clean drivers abstract would be an asset

This position is part-time and pays $20/hour. There is no work on weekends or stat holidays. We’d like this position to start in September.
