Job Description

Position: 2 Outreach and Development Assistants (4-month CO-OP)
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Preferred start date: January 2020

Wildlands League seeks Community Engagement Organizers

Wildlands League is seeking two self-motivating students with a passion for connecting with people. This 4-month paid internship involves responsibilities from two departments: Outreach and Fundraising. The interns’ main goal will be to communicate Wildlands League’s environmental campaigns to the public through internal and external outreach, and fundraising events. The interns will assist the Outreach and Fundraising departments in leading events and community engagement opportunities throughout Ontario. The goal of this position is to engage with the public to further advance the conservation work of Wildlands League and encourage active public participation in the protection of nature in Ontario and beyond.

Position Details:
With respect to outreach, the interns will:

• Research outreach opportunities that align with Wildlands League's values and mission
• Prepare and participate in outreach events throughout Southern Ontario
• Assist the Outreach manager in creating and promoting outreach materials and activities
• Coordinate, communicate, and support volunteers
• Travel and transport Wildlands League materials to and from outreach events

With respect to fundraising, the interns will be responsible for:
• Updating supporter information on our system via telephone bank surveys and emails
• Assisting the Development coordinator in creating fundraising materials
• Attending all fundraising events and transporting Wildlands League materials to and from these events

Requirements:
• Energetic, outgoing, strong interpersonal skills
• Passionate about public outreach and mobilizing constituencies
• Has experience or interest in volunteer management, public engagement campaigns, and fundraising
• Must be 29 years old or younger
• Must be returning to school after April 2020
• Be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or someone who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
• Be comfortable in large group settings and educating large audiences
• Have a clear criminal record

Bonus skills:
• Can speak multiple languages
• Has experience in grassroots organizing
• Has a valid driver’s license
• Has experience managing and communicating with volunteers
