Job Description

SLR has an immediate opportunity for a Regional Practice Lead to join our Vancouver office. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with excellent technical, client service and people skills who will leverage their centers of influence in strategically our growing operations. This position will be responsible for providing expertise in areas including environmental site assessments, remediation, contamination hydrogeology, and encompasses a range of responsibilities from managing colleagues to overseeing interdisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review technical correspondence, reports, work plans and project specifications
  • Oversee financial performance, strategic hire recruitment and retention, coaching, health and safety leadership
  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff, providing guidance and assisting in their development
  • Drive client focus, marketing and business development to support the region's growth strategy
  • Apply regulatory knowledge and expertise in navigating projects and providing clear explanations to clients
  • Liaise with remediation technical teams on development of site remediation and management options, including completion of feasibility studies of environmental remediation options
  • Design and oversee environmental investigation/sampling programs (soil, soil vapour, groundwater, surface water)
  • Contribute industry expertise in relation to provincial and territorial codes and regulations
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the firm including senior managers, technical discipline and business sector leaders, and operations managers in a one-team approach

Preference will be given to those with:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in environmental consulting paired with a strong technical background in environmental site assessments, remediation, contamination hydrogeology
  • Engineering, geoscientist or environmental science degree, technological diploma (R.P.Bio, P.Eng., P.Geo, P.Ag.)
  • Professional status or eligibility for professional status in BC, additional credentials in other provinces is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience of gaining business through current networks and cultivating relationships
  • Staff management experience
  • Extensive project / sector management experience involving comprehensive management of  multiple projects from beginning to end
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills paired with attention to detail
