Job Description

The successful candidate will report to the Project Manager. This position offers an interesting variety of office and field work on a diverse range of projects from rare/endangered species inventories, environmental assessments, to monitoring of environmental impacts. The position will include work outside regular office hours. Although the position will be based in Saskatoon, travel throughout Saskatchewan will be required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating and managing projects
  • Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and technical experts in the environmental sector
  • Ensuring compliance with all environment permits, regulatory requirements, legislation, and government approvals
  • Implementation of environmental field studies (I.e. environmental assessments and mitigation plans)
  • Wildlife and vegetation field support (I.e. nest sweeps, breeding bird surveys, prairie terrestrial transects)
  • Environmental monitoring
  • Client, contractor, and regulatory liaison
  • Data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Completing daily field reports and safety documentation
  • Preparation of technical reports and development of recommendations for site-specific environmental protection measures
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in biology, environmental science, or related studies
  • A minimum of four (4) years environmental monitoring experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Meets or exceeds Personnel Requirements for Species Detection Survey Protocols, specifically in migratory birds and vascular plants
  • Knowledge of Saskatchewan regulatory requirements, legislation, and government approvals related to oil and gas, wetlands, Crown land, species at risk, and migratory birds
  • Understanding of the Canadian Wetland Classification System and Stewart and Kantrud Wetland Classification System
  • Effective technical report writing skills, and experience with data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and the public
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage time and resources effectively with minimal supervision

Preference given to candidates registered as a Professional (or Articling) Biologist or Agrologist
