The City of Dawson Creek invites applications from skilled, versatile and qualified EOCP Operators with Level II (or higher) certification to join the excellent team in the Water & Environmental Department for a full-time permanent position. Under the general supervision of the Water Resource Manager, or designate, this position is a member of a highly skilled and diverse team performing a variety of duties supporting the City’s water and wastewater treatment, water distribution and wastewater collection infrastructure systems.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
• Grade 12 diploma, preferably with chemistry and algebra.
• At least one of the following:
o Level II or higher Water Treatment Operator EOCP certification.
o Level II or higher Wastewater Treatment Operator EOCP certification.
o Level II or higher Water Distribution Operator EOCP certification.
o Level II or higher Wastewater Collection Operator EOCP certification.
• Chlorine handler’s course certification.
• Cross Connection control certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Minimum three years of experience working with water or wastewater treatment, water distribution or wastewater collection systems.
Consideration may be given to candidates who possess EOCP Level I Water Treatment or Wastewater Treatment and have the ability to obtain a Level II EOCP certification within a year of hire. Candidates must demonstrate willingness and progression toward attaining additional certification. Preference will be given to candidates with Level II or higher EOCP certification. The indicated wage is for a Level II Operator; wages for higher level Operators will be commensurate to the level of the successful applicant and are very competitive with industry standards. The successful applicant must be safety-minded, be a real team player, have excellent interpersonal skills and be motivated to work in a highly collaborative, participative and energetic environment. The ability to maintain harmonious relationships with all members of the public and other staff members is required, and the successful applicant must also have the physical agility and ability to complete duties requiring physical effort.
